Every forecourt has to report its prices to the government's Fuel Finder feed. We check it every 15 minutes and show the time each price last changed. If a price hasn't changed in 30 days, it doesn't count towards the cheapest or the averages.

Why our prices might not match other sites

Everyone gets the same government feed. The difference is what happens to it before it reaches your screen.

How we check prices

Real timestamps

Each price shows when the forecourt last changed it. We never stamp an old price with today's date.

Old prices set aside

A price unchanged for 30 days still shows, but it can't rank as cheapest and isn't counted in averages.

Impossible prices held back

The feed mixes pounds and pence, and has typos. Diesel at 107.9p is a mistake, not a bargain. 29 held back right now.
